As a die hard Bulls fan who has collected nothing but Michael Jordan (and Bulls) inspired memorabilia and collectables for 20+ years, I’ve long thought it would be cool to open a store one day that specialised in nothing but such items. Enter Calvan Fowler who has done exactly that, turning his passion as a Michael Jordan fan into his new business, Jordan Heads Brooklyn, a Jordan Brand consignment store in the Bed Stuy area of Brooklyn, New York.
As Calvan told Dose’s Tim Brodhagen in this feature, the store is “a destination for all things Jordan”. He’s not wrong.
Nothing but Jordan product fills the shelves and display cabinets in the store, from kicks to clothes, tees to sunglasses, even Air Jordan shaped soap is for sale. A mural of MJ adorns the 11 foot “Wall of Airness”, original pieces of Jordan inspired art hang from the walls and even the roof gets the elephant print treatment.
The store was inspired by Calvan’s upcoming documentary Jordan Heads, which focuses on the Air Jordan sneaker phenomenon, their cultural impact and the people who’s love for them borders on obsession (count me as one of the obsessed).
The store sounds like heaven to me and a perfect excuse for a visit to the city that holds the claim to Michael Jordan’s birthplace.
The store opened today, so if you’re in the NYC area go check it out. If you wish to join the store email list or consign a pair of J’s, head on over to Jordanheadsbk.com
